Recycle Your Electronics Properly…
Improper disposal of cell phones is a serious threat to our environment. Every cell phone contains no less that 8 hazardous materials including Arsenic, Antimony, Beryllium, Cadmium, Copper, Lead, Nickel and Zinc. Disposing of these phones in a landfill allows these substances to leach into groundwater and soil. Burning them in an incinerator releases chemicals associated with reproductive complications, cancers, and developmental problems especially in children. In 2006 alone, more than 130 million cell phones will be discarded. One cell phone can pollute up to 132,000 liters of water.
Other devices like computers, tvs, and radios (or any other device with boards and circuitry in them) are all that more harmful to the environment around us. Proper steps are needed now to help for a better life for future generations. Many local/county municipalities, electronics stores, cell phone suppliers, post offices, and even some supermarkets have drop-off boxes to recycle your cell phone or used ink cartridges. We at Printing Responsibly also offer this service at no cost to you. Bring in your old cell phone and/or expired ink cartridges and we’ll recycle it. We’ll even come pick it up if we’re in the neighborhood or dropping off your finished job. Just give us a call and we’ll take care of it for you.
For more information about recycling your larger electronics (like computers & monitors, batteries, audio/video equipment, MP3 players, etc.) contact your local/county offices. No-cost recycling days often exist a few times a month and will help save the environment from harmful hazordous materials.
