November 3rd, 2007 11am - 4pm Green Community Festival
Liberty Park in Peapack-Gladstone, NJ

It was a beautiful and crisp autumn day. From eco-art to new types of flooring, the community shared a day of education with a fun twist. There were about twenty businesses who exhibited in order to inform the community about the goods and services available to them in their homes and businesses. Printing Responsibly was proud to design and print the flyer that was distributed to all vendors and event attendees. To see a list of the sponsors, and exhibitors, please visit our links page.

October 25th, 2007: Sussex County Business Expo
This was the event of the year in Sussex County. Held at the Crystal Springs Country Club, on three floors filled with business owners and local residents, the turn out was spectacular. Constant flow of people meeting new people and exchanging ideas and services. There were about 300 businesses and thousands of attendees. We had recognized many current customers and met many new potential customers that thought very logically that they should be printing responsibly and were happy to have a local printer to deal with.

October 11th, 2007: Green by Design - at the International Trade Center in Mt. Olive, NJ
This was a smaller event, but actually very effective. It was a collection of attendees and presenters that have a vested interest in green business. There were carpet companies, computer recyclers, the sponsors of the event were Milton Terry, that sell “green” furniture and GBW Insurance, who educates businesses as to how they can better protect their businesses by being green. We met some very influential people; a consultant to the US Olympic Committee, a representative of a credit union, architects and engineers and other business owners.

October 4th, 2007: The Alternative Board - “A Special Evening with Michael Gerber” author of E-Myth series of business and entrepreneurship books that have created a cult-like following. Mr. Gerber has consistently reached the top 5 on the NY Times best seller list.

For me personally, this event turned out to be an amazing opportunity. Starting the evening before the event, a small group of sponsors had dinner with Michael Gerber himself. To my surprise, the type of arrangement that was made by Bob Zelnich of Ashford Consulting, was truly a once in a lifetime event. We sat firstly at a large open table, but it was hard to hear. Mr Zelnich noticed that it was not as cozy as it should be, so he moved us all to the space above us into a loft that had a narrower table which allowed us to interact with Mr. Gerber and really get to know him at a much greater level. An open Q&A with real answers is something not too many people get to experience. For entrepreneurs, Gerber is the “work on your business, not in it” guru. The next day was the event, an opportunity to mingle with the business community in Northern New Jersey. The event started with everyone setting up their booths. As a green business in particular, we got a lot of attention, questions, exchanging of business cards, new relationships and a handful of current customers. Thanks to all that worked so hard to set up an amazing event and the dinner especially. For me that was a real big deal to meet the man who wrote the book that changed my life.

Printing Responsibly Proves Reality of Sustainable Printing

Earth Pledge has partnered with a reliable source for printing—a company whose mission and standards parallel that of Earth Pledge. As environmental advocates who are graphics professionals. Printing Responsibly is committed to dispelling the myth that sustainable/responsible printing practices are somehow inferior in quality or cost prohibitive in comparison to more traditional methods. Earth Pledge relies on Printing Responsibly for effective expertise in sustainable printing, and, not only does Printing Responsibly provide excellent service, but the quality of work is exceptional.

Printing Responsibly was founded by and for graphics industry professionals, whose ultimate goals are to maximize the quality and cost-efficiency of a print project, while minimizing the detrimental environmental impact—a general association with this industry.

“We want people to understand that choosing to do the right thing for the environment when printing will not yield any compromise in quality or impact of the finished product,” says Steven Van Praagh, partner and co-founder of Printing Responsibly. Van Praagh has been a professional graphic designer and printing professional on both the client and manufacturer side for over 10 years.

“The efficacy of a printed campaign, whether it’s for direct marketing, sales collateral or posters for a garage band should always be the most important aspect of the project,” says Van Praagh, who has been an industry professional for over 15 years. “Printing Responsibly is first and foremost a great printing company that happens to offer only eco-friendly options.”

Environmentally responsible printing options do not compromise quality, impact, or cost effectiveness and they are readily available. However, finding and utilizing such an option doesn’t always seem very accessible. Their mission is to make responsible printing easy and more accessible through education, promotion, and a print procurement system.
PrintingResponsibly.com is a platform featuring an educational forum and print services that promotes and provides sustainable printing to its customers.
