FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

SCI Fidelity Records Chooses to Print Responsibly

Boulder, CO May 1, 2008 - SCI Fidelity Records (www.scifidelity.com) is pleased to announce the forthcoming Railroad Earth (www.railroadearth.com) studio release, Amen Corner, which will be in stores nationwide on June 10th, 2008. The album was written and recorded at lead singer/songwriter Todd Sheaffer’s 300 year-old farmhouse in New Jersey’s rural countryside. Amen Corner is, literally and figuratively, the rustic sound of a band happy to be at home.

“Normally,” Sheaffer explains, “you come home after six weeks on the road and jump into the studio, all frazzled because you don’t have much left in the tank. This time I feel like we’ve invited our friends into our living room and that’s basically how we recorded it. We wanted for years to try working this way and I’m so happy we were finally able to do it.”

Combine that with the fact that Sheaffer, bassist Johnny Grubb and drummer/percussionist Carey Harmon all became fathers in the months leading up to the recording sessions and you have a recipe for change.

“The changes in our lives brought about a peacefulness that is reflected in the music,” says Sheaffer. “We consciously tried to take the approach of ‘less is more’ in how we arranged the songs.”

That “less is more” attitude is also evident in the band and record labels decision to make the album as “green” as possible. After considerable research they selected Printing Responsibly of Rockaway, NJ (www.printingresponsibly.org) to print all promotional materials related to the album. All posters and postcards announcing the album release are printed on FSC Certified paper using soy based inks, as will tour materials which will be produced later this year.

“SCI Fidelity and Railroad Earth have devoted considerable time and energy, educating ourselves on environmental issues and the green movement,” said Matt Hogan, Director of Marketing at SCI Fidelity. “The Forecast page on the album web site (www.railroadearth.com/amencorner) is devoted entirely to various green-related issues, environmental action and sustainability causes. In planning for the release of Railroad Earth’s new album, Amen Corner, we looked for a resource to create quality promotional materials in the most environmentally responsible way, without going over budget. Printing Responsibly’s expertise in sustainability, as well as their competitive pricing, high quality product, and quick turnaround were exactly what we and the band were looking for.”

“FSC certification is about much more than recycled paper”, stated Steven VanPraagh, owner of Printing Responsibly. “It’s about knowing where the fiber in the paper comes from, and that any trees that are cut are replanted. It’s about people all over the world working in the timber and paper industries being as responsible as possible; replenishing and sustaining our renewable resources. It’s about environmental, economic, social and personal responsibility. And in this case, it happens to be about great music too.”

Mohawk and Carbon Neutral?

Since 2003 Mohawk has been a leader in the support of emission–free, renewable energy. In addition to voluntarily capping emissions and making significant investments to reduce energy and emissions, Mohawk is one of the top 25 largest purchasers of wind-generated electricity among manufacturing companies in the U.S. On June 1, 2007, Mohawk Fine Papers increased its purchase of wind–generated electricity RECs from 60,000,000 kWh to 100,000,000 kWh annually. This is 100% of the electric power required for all of Mohawk’s operations in its New York and Ohio facilities.
In March of 2007, Mohawk joined the U.S. EPA Climate Leaders program to further develop greenhouse gas reduction goals. As an extension of our voluntary commitments to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and to purchase renewable electric power, Mohawk will begin to offer products made carbon neutral within our production processes. Select grades, starting with Beckett Expression, Beckett Concept, Strathmore Writing, and Strathmore Script will be made carbon neutral within our production processes by offsetting thermal manufacturing emissions with VERs and the emissions from purchased electricity with Green–e certified windpower RECs.
What is carbon neutral?

Carbon neutral is an emerging international trend that can describe products, operations and activities, which have had their emissions calculated and reduced where possible. The remaining carbon dioxide emissions are then “offset” through credits that fund renewable, emission–free energy projects such as wind farms and solar installations. The carbon offset market allows businesses to recognize and financially support the shift from fossil fuel to renewable energy.
As a partner in the EPA Climate Leaders program, Mohawk is completing an “emission inventory.” The results of this rigorous process will provide the basis for further emission reductions and carbon offsets. Mohawk purchases VERs which support renewable energy projects. These offsets are third–party verified to meet the standards of the Environmental Resources Trust’s GHG (Greenhouse Gas) Registry. The GHG Registry Standard is based on guidelines developed by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), the international scientific body supporting the Kyoto Protocol.

For Mohawk’s carbon neutral qualification, Mohawk offsets both the electricity and the thermal energy used to make paper. Beckett Expression, Beckett Concept and Strathmore Writing and Script are made carbon neutral within our production processes by offsetting thermal manufacturing emissions with VERs and emissions from purchased electricity with RECs from Green–e certified windpower projects.
